Regional Manager - Southland

At Wholesale Seeds Limited, we work alongside New Zealand's pastoral sector to deliver exceptional outcomes. We help farmers and farm managers grow successful crops through proven commercial solutions. From selecting the right seed varieties and refining planting techniques, to advising on fertilisers and chemical controls. We're out in the field with our clients, helping them get the most from their land.

Our Head office is in Ashburton, with branches across the South Island and a growing footprint in the North Island. We're a high-performance business built on continuous improvement, teamwork, and doing things properly. Join us and you'll be pushed to grow, with the backing to actually get there.

The Opportunity:

Southland is an important part of our business, and we're looking for someone who can build on the strong foundations already in place while helping shape its next chapter. Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a senior, hands-on role – you'll lead a capable regional team, strengthen key relationships, and identify opportunities for continued growth across the region.

It's more than a leadership role. You'll need the vision to shape the future of Southland and the drive to turn that vision into reality. Part coach and part operator, you'll thrive on creating momentum, building relationships, and turning opportunities into results. If that sounds like you, this is a role where you can make a meaningful impact.

What you'll do

  • Lead the overall performance of the Southland region, balancing strong commercial outcomes with exceptional client service and long-term relationship building
  • Build on the trusted relationships already in place, supporting existing clients to achieve success while identifying opportunities to add further value where appropriate
  • Drive sustainable growth across the territory, focusing on both volume and margin while maintaining a healthy pipeline for the future
  • Develop and support a high-performing regional team, giving your agronomists the coaching, resources, and direction they need to succeed
  • Contribute to regional strategy as part of the Management Team, providing regular insights and updates to the CEO
  • Be a visible presence across Southland through industry events, community involvement, sponsorships, and networking opportunities that strengthen our reputation and relationships
  • Maintain a strong understanding of our seed, chemical, and fertiliser offerings, enabling you to support your team and provide practical value in client discussions
  • Ensure the branch operates to a high standard, with a focus on health and safety, people leadership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement

What you'll bring

  • A strong commercial mindset, with a track record of identifying opportunities, building relationships, and delivering sustainable growth
  • Proven leadership experience, with the ability to develop, support, and hold a high-performing team to a clear standard
  • Sound agronomic knowledge, or the capability and commitment to quickly build credibility in the sector
  • The confidence and judgement to operate at a senior level, working closely with and reporting directly to the CEO
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to connect equally well with clients, team members, and industry stakeholders
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while leading a region with a high degree of autonomy

What's in it for you

  • Company vehicle, phone, and laptop provided
  • A competitive salary package, including performance incentives aligned with the seniority of the role
  • Group life and trauma insurance cover from day one
  • Confidential Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) support for you and your family
  • Employer-funded annual skin checks
  • A supportive, high-performing team committed to helping you succeed and grow
